HBG acts primarily as a principal, utilizing its own balance sheet to underwrite and complete investment transactions, but often places a portion of the equity with its private and institutional clients in the GCC region, particularly in Saudi Arabia. The investment placement team, based in Saudi Arabia, presents each transaction separately to its clients and they decide to participate at their sole discretion.

HBG’s investment placement team regularly meets existing and prospective investors across the GCC region. All clients are regularly updated on the performance of their investments through personal visits by senior members of HBG’s management team.

Since HBG commenced operations, the firm has built up a unique fundraising capability from a client base which includes some of the largest investors in the GCC region. The GCC is one of the largest global sources of risk capital where HBG’s relationships with Gulf investors have been developed over many years.

These active personal relationships not only ensure that the firm has ready access to third party capital but also that we remain up to date with our clients’ investment preferences, many of whom have also chosen to be shareholders of HBG.
